clutter bug!

my sewing table - uh, correction....junk table

this is opposite side of craft/tv/guest room

Oh my...oh my, OMG!!
I am still movin' stuff from my apt. to the house and we just came back with another load yesterday - the let me see....ah, yes the 5th trip.... 2 times with a borrowed SUV and 3 times with the car jammed with 'my stuff'. I'm completely overwhelmed with it, and where the heck it's going to all go. I've already filled up the shed and garage(already packed with junk) and our sunroom is crammed with boxes and bags. This house is not big, it's rooms are small and I have to sort, purge, designate for yard sale and charity. This is an accumulation of stuff i have collected since the late 80's and i have lived in 11 apts since then, WoW!!
I feel helpless, hopeless and unable to motivate myself to begin sorting it all. The house is already at the point of being cluttered and i do not want to have a cluttered house.
As you can see from the photos there is a big mess, and everyweek i tackle it and clean it up but then we make another trip to my apt. bring back another load and the clutter begins again. We also have one more load to get this weekend.
Oh vey!
Steve it going to put up shelving around the sewing table this week, so all my sewing and crafting supplies can go there, and we bought those 'under the bed storage on wheelies' boxes to hide alot of stuff we don't need to use on a daily basis. So, that is a start i guess. Anyone got any organization tips they want to 'throw out' there (notice the pun?). Do you have any similar horror stories?

When we moved we stuck all our junk in the storage room we have, but one day just went through it all and got rid of alot of STUFF, the sentimental stuff was hard to let go of but in a matter of seconds after saying goodbye to this STUFF it was forgotten faster than I thought.
My theory is if it has to go in a box in an attic/storage room/garage/or basement it's time to say bye bye.

Good Luck with it!

Hello clutterbug- I have the same problem but I'm lucky cos I have a bigger house. But I totally get where you are coming from and how you are feeling. I should be organizing, throwing things out, cleaning but I hate that stuff. I'd rather do other things. i know it's a problem. Procrastination. Wish I could help- the experts say which it sounds like you are doing already is to pick one room or area like the tale you have piled with stuff and start small. It's just too overwhelming unless you have the fortitude of Ms. Martha. Well, you may know who this is. One of your sisters. The prettier of the two. Guess who. Ha, Ha. Me

I think the last post is from my silly big sis Cathy - you're a riot Alice!
yah..one pile at a time..i know, but it is difficult when you've got piles everywhere, and i know i just moved most of my stuff so i realize it is going to get sorted out eventually. I wish i could throw it all in the basement but we have tenants so that's out. Although it does force me to do something about it 'tout suite.'
and
to other sis (see first 4 posts!)
i have'nt tried all those hersey kisses but they sure sound yummy!
May have to buy next time at the store. Coconut sounds very good!
Oh, and you're right - if it's been sitting in a box forever- it's definetely bub-bye time.

That one sister sounds so conceited

(ha ha just kidding!)

Just because she's prettier, she doesn't have to rub it in.

this blogging is addictive, maybe I should do my own, someday when the wee one is bigger.

Yes, we have the same problem. Too much stuff and it's everywhere. Especially toys but it seems cruel to give some away. Once, I tried to get rid of stuff and was asking my little guy if we could give "this" or "that" away to some other little boy who doesn't have as many toys and the answer was always "but I still love this". I guess I should do this by myself.
from the person who is not a sister (but wish she was!)

Okay Sisters, MOve Over. I am coming in with a big dumpster and tongs. I say, just take 10 packages of those hershey's kisses and some other fave foods and like 40 movies and get in your bed for several days, sleep and eat, until you can't stay in bed anymore, then jump out of bed like superwoman and run around tackling all the stuff In a real quick manner? Is that good?

Vanessa, you slay me, sista!
your my fourth sister lol!
or 5th afer Risa!
Whoa! 40 movies and 10 bags of hersey kisses - very tempting!
I'll settle for a box of smarties and one or two movies -
you are a hoot girl!

ten bags of Kisses now that's my kinda girl!

I thought I was the only one who could eat 10 bags of chocolate at once, hee hee hee

Sounds like good ideas from all, liberate yourselves, get rid of it all.... all the STUFF!

Just thought of a good idea for a blog posting:

Sound good?
