Niagra trip....Part one

Steve and i just returned from a 2 day trip in wine country, Niagara-on-the Lake. Gorgeous little town of Virgil, Ontario just a short drive from that huge gusher, Niagara Falls! Beautiful old houses, lots of wineries to go for tours and tastings (we went to a few and tasted some lovely vinos) and lots of antique shops, orchards and we stayed in a great B&B. We took alot of photos, nearly 300, but deleted about 75 (my bad photography!) so i decided i will post in 3 parts.
Here's my first batch of photos of our trip:

Entering the region, it was a lovely day, moderately warm and very sunny. The perfect day for travel. The trip took almost 2 hours considering the traffic was great and Steve sometimes think the highway is the Indy 500! He is a great driver but abit too fast at times!

one of the wineries we visited, in the background, a tour and the vineyard...

Our b&b, called The SchoolMasters' House, because back in 1818, it was owned by a teacher who taught in the house. The owners now, bought furnishings of that period for the main house, but the rooms are furnished with different themes, our room was called the GardenView because we have a beautiful view of their amazing garden and decorated with a French country look, with lots of yellow and blue, a delightful room it was too.
We had our own entrance at the side of the house on the second floor. Lots of privacy and peace and quiet.....

especially across the road from this old cemetary!!

Side of house and garden photos...

Steve peeking through the clematis...

such a pretty garden with lots of places to lounge.....

we spotted this fox nearby.....

some of the lovely homes in the neighbourhood....

views from the park, Lake Ontario, the photo on the right is a view across the lake, if you click on the photo you can see Toronto's CN tower!!

a little window shopping before dinner....

dinner at a nice italian restaurant, i had a vegetarian lasagne (something mild because i was'nt feeling well from eating too much clotted cream at a tea room and too much wine tasting) and Steve had a spicy pasta with andouille sausage....the restaurant had the nerve to charge for bread which we declined....that's unheard of!!

Virgil, Ontario, downtown, the clock tower is famous for being in the
Christmas movie 'Its a Wonderful Life' with Jimmy Stewart. Wow!

We had a lovely first day and walked around after dinner through the quiet and beautiful streets back to our b&b, and walked through the cemetary on the way, i was abit nervous, having never walked in one at night before, and Steve had the audacity to hide on me while i was reading a gravestone, and popped out behind a stone and scared me! Bad Steven!! I screamed of course! Hope i did'nt wake anyone, hee!

I really enjoyed Niagra on the Lake. Your pictures are great. What a beautiful B&B you stayed at. If we ever go back, I'll look that one up.
