fashion friday!

So, i've been bad! Yes, shopping again but i found some great items on sale....really good sales! Oh man, my closets are getting full, i think i need to go through and get rid of stuff i don't wear anymore. It does'nt help that we have teeny tiny closets in our farmhouse. Back in 1918, big closets were not important! How i long for gi-normous walk-in closets...sigh.
Here's the goods:

this cute pink tank top (Winners), although i think it's actually a nightie tank...

this fun and retro style dress (Winners), should go great with my red ballet flats...

cargo shorts (Tommy Hilfiger), so soft and comfy, i will wear these alot this summer...

the cutest pineapple print pyjama bottoms from Old Navy...

these green/white striped wide leg seersucker pants....great with a white tee. (Tommy Hilfiger)

Okay, better cool it with the summer shopping! No more shopping, i swear!
Yeah right...

Fashion friday

new shoes!!!!!

new skirts!!!!

While shopping the other day in Toronto i found some great stuff.....

a nice white skirt....

and this pretty green one with a cute belt and flowers...

these ballet shoes, fire engine red leather with multi-colored bands, they are ultra comfy and fit my long narrow foot perfectly (i have to try lots on to find the right fit)

these sandals were from the same line at Towne Shoes, black leather and the rainbow bands, and denim on the sides, they are also tres comfy!

On my list for other summer fashions are:
  1. a long flowing halter top dress, all the way down to the ankles, all the rage in London i've heard and starting to make an appearance here in NA.
  2. mary jane crocs in khaki green.
  3. white rimmed sunglasses with dark blue lenses that i saw in a magazine.
  4. shorts, not sure what style or length yet, nothing too too short! don't have the legs i once had, sigh.
  5. capri's. i saw a woman wearing dark blue ones with white mini pin stripes that were fab.

So, what's on your fashion must have list?

All things purple!

wild phlox by the pond.....

a fun purple striped bag, 'i heart butterflies'.....

Is this an Iris? I absolutely love it, it was growing in the front by the driveway, and i transplanted it in my flowerbed in the back. I love the dark purple almost like eggplant...

Pretty purple posies from my neighbours yard....i think the top one is hollyhock, correct me if i'm wrong please! I think they're good for attracting butterflies.

berry lipgloss and lavender cardigan....

some new fabrics, the purple fabric is kind of iridescent, trying to decide what to do with these...maybe make a cute watermelon shaped clutch with seed beading on some of the seeds.

picked this from my yard, it is a glorious purple!

sandcherry tree (even though it's red, it's almost purpley to me anyway) and my fave striped shirt...
Are you inspired to add more purple to your life!

Rhubarb alert....

if your rhubarb looks like this, i would not dare to eat it....

this is poison rhubarb....

YES! my english lady across the road came to see my backyard garden yesterday and declared this to be a poisonous plant and not the good rhubarb!! Yes said i could have been violently ill or dead if i ate it....YIKES!
The thing is i was going to harvest it today and make a pie....Oh My! I could have sent us to the hospital or the morgue......but seriously folks, if you think you have rhubarb make sure it's the good, non-killing type with shiny and rounded leaves (according to my neighbour). I can't believe i almost poisoned myself and Steve. That sure was a close call. I guess i will either get my rhubarb from the market or bake something else...darnit!

summer fruit

I've been eating alot of these gorgeous cherries lately.
Berry shakes for breakfast are a good thing. Strawberries, blueberries, milk and frozen vanilla yoghurt...yummy!

we bought a big box of flash frozen wild blueberries from a local farm so i thought i'd do some baking....

ready for the oven...

Wild blueberry struesel muffins....also a good thing. I froze some of them, but when i thawed them out the struesel was too moist....struesel does not like being frozen. I love them warmed in the micro with a smear of butter, so comforting. Reminds me of college, in the winter i frequented a shop called Grandma Lee's which sold mammoth sized blueberry muffins which i scarfed down with a hot chocolate.
I love all the summer fruit that is available now, and i'm growing raspberries and rhubarb in the garden. The rhubarb leaves are huge, the stalks are a bit too thin, but i'm wondering how long i should wait to harvest it and start baking pies and crumbles. The raspberries will not fruit this year, probably next year though, and then i'll have to get netting, so the birdies and squirrels don't get them all.
I've also been eating alot of watermelon lately, so refreshing and sweet plus i heard it is alot healthier than i previously thought. I decided to take a chance with the nectarines i saw at the supermarket...not too bad, abit sour but juicy.
Looking forward to this month when the Ontario strawberries are ready to pick. Then are smaller than the Californian variety but very sweet. I love going to a farm to pick them myself, kneeling in the straw, swatting bugs and cramming berries in my mouth when the farm people are looking the other way. Nothing like a ripe strawberry warm from the sun. I have to wear a hat and sunscreen though since i got scorched by the sun last year. I ended up looking like a strawberry that night!!
How i love summer fruit.
